To get around Phrae, the most common and economical form of public transportation is the songthaew, which is ideal for both local trips and for getting to the Den Chai train station. If you prefer more freedom to explore the surrounding area, renting a motorcycle is the most practical option.

Within the historic district, walking or taking a scenic ride on a traditional tricycle (samlor) are excellent ways to enjoy the art at a leisurely pace.

To get to Phrae, the bus is usually the most convenient option, with connections from Bangkok and other northern cities such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Nan. You can also fly to Chiang Mai and continue your journey by road, since Phrae Airport does not currently have commercial flights.

If you prefer to travel by train, the nearest station is Den Chai, about 20 km from Phrae. From there, you can continue on to the city by songthaew.
