About Viajera en Tailandia

We create meeting places

Among travelers and local hosts who have deep ties to their community and who work to revitalize and care for it.

Traveling is a way for us to connect with places

Every decision we make as travelers—where we stay, with whom we share a meal, and whom we choose to share experiences with or buy souvenirs from—leaves a mark on the places we visit.

Sustainability was the first step.

Today we're talking about regeneration

At Viajera en Tailandia, sustainability has been a cornerstone and the first step in establishing our presence in the tourism industry. Today, we are exploring regeneration—an approach that goes beyond simply reducing negative impacts.

Through the lens of regeneration, we view tourism as the network of a living system, where the well-being of people, places, and ecosystems are deeply interconnected. We aim for every journey to foster connections that allow us to engage, create, and thrive together.

Hosts incorporate regeneration practices into at least one of the following areas:

A place that provides guidance

Every decision is based on what the place needs, offers, and can sustain.

Local community leader

The hosts and the local community take center stage and work together

Nature that restores

There is a direct link to the restoration of ecosystems and forms of life.

A culture that lives on

Cultural knowledge and expressions are preserved by the people who live there.

Experience as part of a living system

What happens here spreads and brings well-being to the system.

Meet Joha

Someone who explores other ways of traveling

Joha is the founder of Viajera en Tailandia, a consultant in regenerative tourism, a travel designer, and a sustainability auditor for hotels and tour operators.

He was born and raised in Colombia, but for over a decade he has lived in Southeast Asia, between Myanmar and Thailand, where he has become deeply immersed in the local society and culture and has developed close ties with local hosts, independent projects, and rural and artistic initiatives.

Through Viajera en Tailandia, Joha explores different places and brings to light stories, experiences, and ways of caring for these territories through tourism, viewed through the lens of regeneration.

Viajera en Tailandia was born out of that network and the strong belief that there are other ways to travel.
