3. Wat Phra Singh

Located in the charming city of Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh is a true treasure, built in 1345. Its elegant architecture and intricate details reflect the aesthetic of northern Thailand. It houses the most revered Buddha statue in the north, Phra Phuttha Sihing, and is a place of worship for local devotees.   

4. Wat Rong Khun (White Temple)

Wat Rong Khun is a unique example of contemporary creativity among Thai artists. Located in Chiang Rai, this temple dazzles with its gleaming white design, symbolizing purity in Buddhist teachings. In the main hall, you’ll find a mural featuring paintings that depict evil and the distractions from inner peace, as envisioned by the artist.

Within the Sukhothai Historical Park, Wat Si Chum stands out with its imposing stone Buddha statue, standing over 15 meters tall. Seated in the posture known as the “wonderful scrutiny, ” this Buddha gazes intently from the past, connecting visitors with centuries of history and devotion.

Perched atop a hill in Chiang Rai is Wat Huay Pla Kang, one of my favorite temples. Dominated by the white statue of Guan Yin, the goddess of compassion, this temple offers a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings from above. 

Beyond its stunning architecture, the temple offers a place to connect with spirituality while taking in the beauty of Chiang Rai.

10. Wat Doi Suthep

Perched atop a mountain in Chiang Mai, Wat Doi Suthep is a temple offering breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings. Its staircase, flanked by guardian serpents, leads you to a sanctuary where you can connect with the serenity of Thailand.
