About the host

Min and May grew up near Inle Lake in Myanmar’s Shan State, a place where life revolves around the water, morning markets, and floating gardens. There, they learned to cook alongside their mothers and grandmothers, preparing the dishes that are part of everyday life, celebrations, and family gatherings.

A few years ago, they arrived in Chiang Mai and built a new home here. Although they now cook far from the lake, many of the recipes, ingredients, and cooking methods remain the same. At Bamboo Nest @ Sanggadee, they open the doors to their kitchen to share those flavors and the stories behind them, creating a space where food becomes a way to get to know Myanmar through the people who cook it.

Perhaps that's why the experience feels so intimate. More than just learning a recipe, it's an invitation to sit around the table and share a piece of the history and memories that Min and May brought with them from Inle Lake.
